

siofra is Act II of the Dark Mother Trilogy by Natalia Bushnik and Kathleen Welch. síofra follows a newlywed couple in Belclare, Ireland, in the late 1800’s, and the tragedy that occurs when they build a home on a supposed ‘fairy mound’ underneath the famed Knockma Hill. Exploring the myth of Irish changelings, síofra features an extremely talented ensemble cast and original music by Welch. Join us at the foot of Knockma Hill, Ireland for a play that is both sinister and mysterious.
PROJECT HISTORY
The first draft of síofra was developed at the Warbler's Roost Artist Residency. It was workshopped with actors through 2025, and will have its premiere in association with Eldritch Theatre in June 2026, at the Red Sandcastle Theatre.
The Toronto premiere will feature the talents of Natalia Bushnik, Darius Rathe, Justin Otto, Rachel Offer, Eric Woolfe, Jeanie Calleja, Susan Wesson, and Claire Haig-Halsall, with direction by Kathleen Welch and Stage Management by Leah Wilton. Brendan Kinnon will serve as Lighting Designer, and Ciarán Connaire will collaborate as Set Builder and our Irish Cultural Consultant.
